Lost Principle

Sat Aug 15, 2009, 12:00 PM
This is just a little entry that I wanted to type to get something off of my brain I've been thinking about for a while now. Amusingly enough, it began when I was taking a shower.

It's about the news, journals, and newspapers we have. You know how reporters and journalists always defend themselves and what they say by quoting the First Amendment? Freedom of speech this, freedom of speech that, the people deserve to know, blah, blah, blah. It's a very important Amendment and freedom, but honestly I think these people should be ashamed of themselves. They keep throwing it around like it's nothing when all the while they've lost sight of the principle.

It's no longer about the freedom of speech anymore. It's about what they think and assume, their own opinion rather than the facts. It's about ratings and the paycheck they receive. These people are hardly honest and they don't care that the common people 'deserve' to know. It's all about sensationalism. And I think people should think about that when they read the newspaper or watch any news program now, especially with all the trouble the new presidency is creating.

These people have lost themselves so far in the bureaucracy and their own greed that they've lost sight of the principle of the freedom of speech. There's very few people left who still see it and you hardly hear or read their words anymore.
